Cornus Kousa Chinensis

Perhaps the most reliable of all flowering dogwoods.

Bean reckoned the fruits were both sweet and edible but I think he was getting carried away by the glamour of the plant as believe me there are better things to eat!

This small open tree flowers in June the white bracts turning from soft green to white to pink and lining the upper sides of almost horizontal slender branches.

It goes on to give pink arbutus-like berries and rich bronze and crimson autumn leaves.

It prefers acid and well drained soils.

Mature heights and crown spread can vary depending on environmental conditions
