Acer palmatum Polymorphum

Chaos reigns in the naming of this tree that most classify as straight Acer palmatum. Certainly its attributes are very similar but there are so many slightly different types of the same thing that they all tend to blur into one. However, we are listing this differently as we recognize it to be both vigorous and less prone to disease. Its small dainty leaves are numerous and turn a mix of yellow, orange and red in the autumn.

Best suited to free draining and well fertilized loamy soils, this shrubby tree can form a very pleasing architectural shape at maturity. Young leaves can bruise in strong winds so sheltered aspects give better results.

Mature heights and crown spread can vary depending on environmental conditions

Mature height: 3-8m

Mature spread: 2-4m
